City of Detroit Style Guide
In an effort to align the look and feel of all city departments, Chief of Staff Alexis Wiley tasked myself and a small team of designers to create a city style guide for both print and web application. We created a brand identity that culminated in our style guide and online asset bank available to all city employees. The style guide was set to launch in 2020 but was published online instead due to COVID-19's cancellation of the official announcement.
Detroit Neighborhood Newsletter
In an effort to align the look and feel of all city departments, Chief of Staff Alexis Wiley tasked myself and a small team of designers to create a city style guide for both print and web application. We created a brand identity that culminated in our style guide and online asset bank available to all city employees The Detroit Neighborhood Newsletter was a new project that I joined at its formation in July 2018. Since the beginning I have served as the art director and principal designer for the project. We print quarterly and produce a custom issue for each City district. The press run in 300,000+ per quarter. I also create
promotional pieces for the newsletter such as billboards.
Website and COVID-19 Response
Starting in January 2020 my role at the City was expanded to include management of the City's website. I have worked with the IT department to redesign the homepage, oversee department content that is on the site and work on special initiatives set by the Mayor's Office. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I also worked on the Coronavirus communications team and am currently responsible for the city's pandemic response presence on our website. This included designing a 60+ page book of Health Department guidelines.
